Energy
Efficient use of electricity and climate
- Green electricity
- 36,400 square metres of solar panels on the roofs of Messe Stuttgart and the ICS, as well as 7,000 square metres on the Bosch car park, produce 3.63 million kilowatt hours of power anually (2021). This could supply approximately 907 four-person households with electricity for a year. Compared to the average country-wide electricity mix, about 1.328 tons CO2 (2021 ) can be saved.
- Use of CO2-neutral electricity from hydropower.
- Heating and cooling
- Intelligent heat recovery and very efficient gas condensing technology.
- The cooling is effected using a forward-looking climate system: Ice is produced at night on low power, which is used during the day to relieve the pressure on the cooling units at peak load periods.
- The layer ventilation system ensures energy savings with added comfort. Instead of circulating and exchanging complete air, only the lower hall area up to a height of roughly four metres is supplied with fresh air and this is done without a draught.
- Further energy efficiency measures
- Daylight in all 33 ICS rooms: for a pleasant atmosphere and low power consumption.
- Partially glazed façade and strip-line lighting: Every hall and the galleries are supplied with daylight. The zenithal distribution of light makes possible low energy consumption for lighting purposes.
- Modern and energy-efficient conference technology.
- Saving electricity – day by day: Thanks to energy-saving mini-PCs at the 450 workplaces, electricity is saved during the daily work of our employees. The PCs, which come from the region, are powerful and consume roughly 75 per cent less energy than conventional computers.
